House rules
There isn’t a long list. The house runs on good sense and a little consideration for the people in the next chair. Here is the whole of it.

Dress
Smart, but yours. There is no dress code beyond good sense — come as the person you are on a good day.

Guests
Guests are always welcome. Sign them in at the door, and they remain your responsibility while they’re in the house.

Phones
Phones on silent in every room. Take calls in the booths or the hall, where you won’t be sitting on someone else’s afternoon.

The Reading Room
The quietest room in the house is kept that way. No calls, no meetings — just newspapers, the library, and the sound of pages.

Laptops
Laptops are for the Workroom by day. After six, the bar is for talking; let the screens rest with the rest of you.

Discretion
What’s said in the house stays in the house. No photographs of other members without asking first.
DRESS & GUESTS

On dress
Smart, but yours. We don’t keep a jacket at the door or turn anyone away over a collar. Wear what you’d be glad to be seen in over dinner, and you’ll be at home.
On guests
You may bring guests, and we hope you will — the house is better for new faces. Sign them in at the door. While they’re with us they’re your guests, and their afternoon is in your hands.
